Promotion at work. This is something that everyone dreams of. So when my sister’s friend got it, her friends, and her Dad, were overjoyed. But in spite of the title, increase in pay, and added benefits, she was unhappy. A few months after, she quit her job to heed the call to work full time for religious publications company. She knew it was a radical move because the pay was only half of what she was getting from her previous job. And there were no fringe “material” benefits. Everyone, specially her father was very disappointed.
However, in spite of all the disconcerting reactions, she stood firm. Deep in her heart she knew she made the right decision. Her secular life ended. Her missionary life began.
She is now happily married. Her spouse is a missionary as well.
